2019-07-15
In some of our studies we examined the occurrence of ERβ and SHBG and a possible colocalization between them. Fig. 5 shows that there is no big difference in the occurence of ERβ after short time (A) as well as long time (B) treatment with E2. We can find the receptor at the cell membrane as well as

2019-07-15
Methods Ventricular cardiomyocytes from adult male Wistar rats were isolated using a standard enzymatic digestion [11]. Cells were incubated at 37°C for 4 to 6h with Tyrode solution (in mM: 140 NaCl, 4 KCl, 1.1 MgCl2, 10 HEPES, 10 glucose, 1.8 CaCl2; pH7.4, with NaOH) supplemented or not with 10μ

2019-07-15
Anaesthetized mice of one eNOS-KO strain showed a paradoxical decrease in blood pressure (BP) in response to i.p. administration of the NOS-inhibitor L-NA suggesting a role for non-endothelial isoforms of NOS in maintaining BP [1]. Alternatively, diminution in the activity of the renin-angiotensin s

Acknowledgements This study was funded by Kuwait University Research Administration (Project MI03/10). Introduction Epidemiological, experimental and biologic plausibility support a cardioprotective effect of estrogens in women [1]. Indeed, women are protected until the menopause from the development of coronary artery disease and lag behind men in the incidence of myocardial infarction and sudden death by 20 years [2].

Phylogenetic analysis indicates that in poikilothermic vertebrates CXCR3a and CXCR3b have evolved independently from a common gene possibly after the 2nd round whole genome duplication but before the split of bony fish and tetrapods (Fig. 1 and Supplementary file 3).

2019-07-11
Cyclin-dependent kinases control more than cell cycle CDKs’ roles conducting the concert of ZM 447439 was first revealed in the context of the tumor suppressor Rb, phosphorylation of which by CDK4 or CDK6 inactivates it loosing the transcription factor E2F [1], [12], [15]. Discovery of other cyclin/CDK combinations and their role in other phases of the cell cycle (Table 1), including in cancer cells, followed [16], [17], [18], [19], [20].

2019-07-10
The N&B method has the overall advantage that it is not restricted to certain dyes specific for energy transfer [55], and is also able to detect higher order receptor MDL-29951 on the focal point in living cells. Conclusion The N&B method has shown to be a powerful tool to locate and quantify the aggregation state of the AT1 and the ETA receptors on the plasma membrane in living cells.

2019-07-09
It is noteworthy that little is known as to the role of autophagy in regulation of eNOS phosphorylation and eNOS uncoupling. eNOS monomers, but not eNOS dimers could be degraded by ubiquitination [39], harbingering the existence of protein degradation pathways in modulation of eNOS turnover and activity.

This paper proposes an acceptance
2019-07-08
This paper proposes an acceptance process and evaluation criteria, specialized for the dedication of indirect COTS SW as well as direct ones. (Step 1) It first recognizes an indirect COTS SW as a target of dedication, unlike EPRI NP-5652/TR-106439. (Step 2) It then determines the safety category of the target SW and identifies detailed evaluation criteria for acceptance. We adopted and modified those from US.NRC NUREG/CR-6421 (1996). (Step 3) Acceptance methods and specific V&V techniques which can satisfy the evaluation criteria successfully are selected.

Ubiquitination and deubiquitination pathways
2019-07-05
Ubiquitination and deubiquitination pathways Ubiquitination is a part of the post-translational modification (PTM) process. Ubiquitination affects proteins in various ways, but its main functions are to signal protein degradation via the 26S proteasome, modify cellular location of proteins, affect protein activity, and promote or prevent protein-protein interaction [10].

2019-07-04
In order to assess quantitatively the contribution of the ung, dug and dut Juvenile to uracil-DNA accumulation in E. coli, we have developed a novel method for measuring uracil residues in DNA that is based on the approach of Kow and co-workers [33] for measuring AP-sites in DNA.

2019-07-03
A cocktail approach can detect the activities of multiple CYP 450 isoforms following administration of multiple CYP-specific substrates in a single experiment. Caffeine, losartan, omeprazole, dextromethorphan and midazolam are often used as substrates in “cocktail probes” of human cytochrome CYP1A2, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6 and CYP3A4, respectively (Ryu et al., 2007).

MuRF1 and MuRF3 in cooperation
2019-07-02
MuRF1 and MuRF3 in cooperation with the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes UbcH5a, -b, and -c were found to mediate degradation of myosin heavy chain β/slow (MHC β/slow) and MHC IIa via UPS, both, in vitro and in vivo [60]. Mice lacking both MuRF1 and MuRF3 developed skeletal muscle myopathy and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with sub-sarcolemmal MHC accumulation, myofibril fragmentation and diminished muscle performance, leading to myosin storage myopathy [60].

2019-07-01
We examined pharmacologic exposures among the subset of women diagnosed with breast cancer on or after 1995 (N=620) and found that over two thirds (70.8%) received adjuvant endocrine therapy prior to hip or BRD4 fracture, including 30.8% who received tamoxifen only, 23.1% who received aromatase inhibitor only, and 16.9% who received both tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitor at some point during the interval between breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent fracture.
